Who we are

What data we access

ConvertLens requests only the read_products and write_products Shopify scopes.

• Products — title, handle, description HTML, vendor, product type, price, and product-image alt text, used to score each product page against a conversion-rate heuristics rulebook.
• Product writes — when (and only when) you explicitly approve a rewrite, ConvertLens updates that product's title or description via the Shopify Admin API.

We do not read, store, or transmit customer personal data — no names, emails, phone numbers, shipping addresses, payment details, or customer identifiers. We do not read orders. Because ConvertLens never touches Protected Customer Data, it is out of scope for Shopify's Protected Customer Data review.

What we store

• Shop settings — your audit configuration (description-length target, image-count target, demo-mode flag).
• Applied-change log — for every rewrite you approve, the product id, section, the original copy, the new copy, and the rationale, so changes are traceable and reversible.
• Shopify session — the offline access token Shopify issues so the app can call the Admin API on your behalf.

How we use AI

The conversion audit runs in a deterministic, on-server rulebook — no model is involved in the scoring. We send only the audit findings plus the product's own title and description copy to Anthropic's Claude API to draft before→after copy rewrites, which are always shown to you for review before anything is written to your store. No customer data is sent to any third party. When no API key is configured, a deterministic local rewriter is used and nothing leaves your server.

Data retention & deletion

When you uninstall the app (or Shopify sends a shop/redact request), we delete all data we hold for your shop: sessions, shop settings, and the applied-change log. We respond to the mandatory customers/data_request and customers/redact webhooks with an attestation that no customer data is held.
